Bad News

Manchester United’s injury blighted season could be set to continue with news that Spanish stopper David de Gea dislocated his finger while training with the national squad on Friday. De Gea has been on fire for his club and is finally forcing his way into top spot for Spain as their golden generation of Casillas, Valdes and Reina wanes.

Manchester United’s official Twitter feed earlier reported:

The Spain national team report David De Gea has dislocated a finger on his right hand. He remains with the squad where he will be assessed.

Of course, in times past, you might be expected to just pop it back in and crack on with the job in hand as it were.

But De Gea is likely to miss the upcoming international fixtures against Belarus and Germany. It is not yet known whether he will be fit to take his place between the sticks for Manchester United as they travel to Arsenal on November 22nd.

His absence from that game would be a huge blow to a Manchester United side desperate for some continuity in the defensive areas.

Manchester United currently have Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Rafael and Marcos Rojo on the sidelines due to injury, with Chris Smalling, Paddy McNair and Luke Shaw also having missed chunks of the season.
