Arsenal patently need to invest in defensive quality but rumours persist that they are still in the hunt for a striker.
Matt Destro has been the subject of much transfer speculation due to some consistently good prefaces in the last 18 months, which have yielded 22 goals in 49 league games for Roma.
The 23 year old is quoted as saying on Roma Radio:
“They are wonderful rumours, I’m very pleased because it means that I’ve taken the right path [in my career],”.
Looking at Arsenal’s front line – Welbeck, Giroud, Sanogo and Podolski – you would probably concur that it’s not the best in the league and could use a top addition.
But Alexis Sanchez is of course banging them in for fun right now too. With Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud on the way back you would hope that most of the cash will will be spent on the back 5 positions and defensive midfield over the next window or two.
Nevertheless, Destro is a fine young player with guile, good positional sense and great technique. He looks hungry and he seems up for a move.
Arsenal need more long-term solutions up top and Destro may fit the bill.
Let’s see him in a action. Arsenal fans: good enough?
