Manchester City: Transfers to get excited about

Some players are almost impossible to replace. Manchester United have struggled to deal with the departures of Roy Keane and Cristiano Ronaldo. And it’s difficult to see who can successfully take the place of the brilliant Steven Gerrard at Liverpool.

Despite some dodgy performances of late Yaya Toure has done as much as any player to bring title glory to Manchester City.

We laughed off recent reports that suggested Mesut Ozil could be the man to replace him – for all his arguable qualities Ozil just doesn’t fit the profile.

But the latest rumours are much more suitable in that respect:

Manchester City are set to sell 31-year-old Yaya Toure next summer and replace him with either Juventus’s Paul Pogba, 21, or Everton 20-year-old Ross Barkley. (The Times)

Both of these players could have a really good crack at replacing the big man. We have got a feeling Manchester City may prioritise a move for Barkley over the next 12-18 months and he would be the better of the two as far as we’re concerned. He’s a natural born Premier League footballer who will help his next team to dominate the league for years come.

Let’s have a look at the land in action. Manchester City fans: who would you take out of the two?
