At times this season Real Madrid looked as if they could score at will. We haven’t seen a team quite this good for a while.
But that wasn’t the case against Liverpool in The Champions League this week, where Los Blancos struggled to put the game to bed with a second goal.
But that shouldn’t dent the confidence in any way and Real Madrid will want another big win before they go into yet another drab international break.
They will welcome back Gareth Bale who looks set to start after a 30 minute cameo in the week and will want to make a big impression after recent speculation that his place is under serious threat from the brilliant Isco.
The most expensive player in the world will need to be on top of his game to win the small contingent of doubters over. But it’s a great problem for Real Madrid to have – they have too many good players!
They are absolutely flying right now and we feel some sympathy for a Rayo side who will surely be looking at this game as a damage limitation exercise.
Carvajal’s chances of playing are in the balance after a sustaining a thigh injury against Granada last weekend. There also remain injury doubts over Khedira, Coentrao and Llaramendi.
We would play Ramos at right back and continue with excellent Varane at centre back.
So here is our best XI for what should be another comfortable win for the home team. Real Madrid fans: do you agree with the line up?
