Real Madrid will have a big decision to make over the future of Chicharito at the end of the season.
The Mexico international, who has scored 37 goals in just 67 games for his country, is in many ways perfect for Madrid.
Because very few players in the world would get in the team ahead of the on-fire Karim Benzema right now. Hernandez seems happy right now to take his chances from the bench. And he’s a great substitute to have as his raw pace can do serious damage to an opponent with tired legs.
He’s scored 4 goals in 8 games for his new club and things are going well. But the flip side is that Madrid may want a player who is going to keep Benzema on his toes – someone good enough to put real pressure on the Frenchman.
That said the pros of keeping Chicharito at Real Madrid seem to outweigh the cons. He’s still only 26, he’s hungry and he always scores goals. He seems happy too:
“It was the toughest challenge [I was offered] and the one that gave me the least chances [of first-team football], but these are the challenges I like and the ones I’ve worked for all my life. I dreamed of being here. I have the talent and I’ll work hard to show I belong at such a great institution. I hope some positive things happen, both to the club and myself.”
We think it’s likely that Real Madrid will sign Hernandez permanently this summer and also buy a top young striker who can eventually take the number 9 shirt.
Let’s see Chicharito in action for Madrid. Real fans: do you want to keep him?
