Football opinion has a very short term feel about it. And, because Chelsea are currently top of the league, few pundits can see anything other than a title for Mourinho’s men.
We are in the minority of those who believe that Manchester City are still a more powerful side on their day and can easily overturn this deficit.
If Chelsea drop points at Liverpool at the weekend, expect the tide of opinion to start turning – this title race isn’t over by a long chalk.
In general we would take Manchester City’s squad over any other in the league and reports today suggest that they could further strengthen with an absolute diamond in the summer.
The rumour is that City will battle for the services of German international Marco Reus at the end of the season.
There are obviously a lot of good players around Europe. But few gettable players could noticeably improve City right now – this is one of them.
Reus is a superb player. He’s one of the most two-footed footballers you will see. He can play pretty much anywhere in the midfield or attack. He could improve City’s wing play or even stop in for Yaya Toure in the attacking midfield. He’s scored more goals than many top strikers and, at 25, he’s coming into his absolute prime.
If Manchester City manager to sign Marco Reus it will be even more difficult to get past City in the race for the title.
Let’s see him in action. City fans: the perfect addition?
