We always promote the idea that, while football speculation can sometimes seem utterly outlandish, there is usually some truth in the rumour – at least indirectly.

On the surface Chelsea have a superb defence. And if Cahill or Terry get injured then Ivanovic or Zouma can step in. But Jose is a master of the defence and perhaps feels that one more is needed to have a full house in that area.
