Chelsea are beginning to look like the German team from Escape To Victory again – just like they did last time Jose was in charge. They seem bigger, more powerful and generally better fed than most of their opposition and this time Mourinho is aiming for an even better team – one to dominate Europe as well as The Premier League.
If there is a weakness it could be up top and if Diego Costa gets crocked for any amount of time the team will surely suffer, despite having decent alternatives in Didier and Loic Remy.
But the rumours persist that Chelsea’s next buy will be a midfielder. Sami Khedira has been spoken of regularly in relation to The Blues and reports today suggest that another star could be on the radar for the engine room.
Not that Chelsea actually want Khedira any more. They’ve moved on. They’re all about Marseille’s Giannelli Imbula now.
Beyond Matic and Ramires, Chelsea don’t have too much proven class in its prime. Van Ginkel is on loan and his future is uncertain. Oriel Romeu – also on loan – hasn’t blossomed in the way many thought he would and John Obi Mikel is on the way out. So perhaps there is a need for another trusted midfield man.
The 22 year old Imbula has been playing out of his skin for Marseille and looks as if he can become a real powerhouse of the game. He was born in Belgium, has citizenship in The Republic of Congo and is a France youth international – a nomad indeed.
Let’s see the lad in action. Chelsea fans: could this guy make the grade?

It was reported that Guy Hillion went to watch Imbula but in fact the main interest was Thauvin.
