There are lots of things that we like about Everton manager Roberto Martinez. One of them is that his players always look as if they know what they are supposed to be doing. Martinez likes spectacular footy but he also likes to keep things simple.
He loves his pacey wide men to attack at any opportunity – that includes the full backs – and has several really good finishers to profit from this service. At the back Baines and Coleman are a dream combo when fit. But Everton could still improve the quality in the wide areas further up the park.
Reports today suggest that Everton may add to Mirallas, McGeady, Pienaar and Atsu by signing another flying wide man – this time it’s André Ayew.
The 24 year old Ghana international (56 caps and 8 goals) has been linked to various Prem clubs over the last year, including the unmentionables down the road.
Nothing has so far materialised for the lad, who can play as a winger or second striker, but it’s easy to image him playing in England. He’s quick and great with the ball at his feet. But he also has the requisite physique for the sometimes rough job in hand.
Born in France, Ayew made his name at Marseille. After a couple of initial loans he cemented his place in the team of the French giants with 51 goals and 18 assists in 171 games for the club. He’s doing really well this term too, with 2 goals and two assists in 7 games.
There’s little not to like about the lad and he definitely gets our thumbs up as a potential Everton purchase.
Let’s see him in action. Everton fans: keen?
