Another weekend and another bruising defeat for the opposition of Real Madrid.
It may seem foolish to suggest that the club is in need of reinforcements when they are arguably playing their best football in years.
But the next week should give us a much better indication of just how good this side is as they are playing some proper teams at last.
The Champions League first and Liverpool are struggling in England but they are still a quality side. El classico follows that a few days later.
Our concern, as ever with Real Madrid, is the defence. Madrid need a better keeper and David de Gea was rumoured to be interesting Real last week.
But he may well sign a new contract at Manchester United and latest reports suggest that the club will instead make a move for Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic.
For any Real Madrid fans that don’t know about him they needn’t worry. This is the most underrated keeper in the league. He’s almost a carbon copy of Petr Cech in his prime – he’s got a similar frame to Manuel Neuer and he’s a wonderful stopper.
Begovic is as agile as he is commanding and rarely makes a mistake. He’d be a fantastic signing for Real Madrid.
English media outlet The Express reports:
Real Madrid are ready to turn to Stoke’s Asmir Begovic to replace Iker Casillas.
The Spanish giants are set to miss out on David De Gea, who is close to committing his future to Manchester United.
The 27 year old has played 37 times for Bosnia and will surely make a big move while still in his prime. He’s definitely good enough for Real.
Let’s see him in action. Real Madrid fans: keen?
