Hold the back page! Arsenal have reportedly been handed a ‘war chest’ of £20m to spend in the January window in order to bolster their squad.

We have to say that unless Arsenal can buy players at 1980s prices then they aren’t going to get much for their buck – not the sorts of players that they need anyway.

£20m would buy them the sorts of players that we generally see Arsenal recruiting – youngsters with potential or players who have been underperforming in their current clubs.

But the Cavanis and Hummels of this world would not be acquired for such money. The only really obvious stellar addition that Arsenal could make within that budget is Chelsea’s Petr Cech – now that would be a good buy.

Nevertheless sections of the media today suggest that’s the figure that Arsene Wenger has to play with this winter:

Arsene Wenger poised to get £20m kitty to fund Arsenal’s title challenge

The reports implies that the money could go towards strengthening the back line and that Sami Khedira could also make the move to London with just six months remaining on is contract.

Arsenal fans: what would you do with the £20m?

I would spend the £20 million on part of a new managers contract. While Wenger stays we could have 20 billion and not win the title. Everything else is unimportant compared with the need to get rid of this ludicrous old fashioned, lazy minded old fool, who by his actions at Arsenal show he doesn’t have his own house insured, let alone our team. Chickens are now coming home to roost. My mother in law is expecting a phone call to say she is playing centre half against Hull!
