A title-winning Arsenal XI with Khedira and Chelsea reject

Superside

Sooner or later Arsenal are going to have to clarify the extent of their ambition. The fans want yearly success – titles and Champions League finals – that desire is probably shared by the board. But are they prepared to stump up the necessary finances to get there?

Yes, the money in football is crazy these days. And, yes, Arsenal have spent big bucks on Ozil and Sanchez. But they are still lagging behind where it comes to signing A-listers eho want A-list money.

The wages of Sanchez and Ozil are high but they would pale in comparison to those of Khedira and Cavani. While these guys are exactly what Arsenal need there appears to be an apprehension to break the current wage structure. That ok. Admirable even. But until the club is prepared to pay top wages they won’t be able to compete with the other serial winners.

In four signings Arsenal could win the title. Cech, Hummels, Khedira and Cavani. Easy to list the names and much harder to sign them. But they all seem gettable at the right price.

And imagine how good Arsenal would be with these guys? They would finally have the steel to go with the undoubted talent in the squad.

Check out our ideal Arsenal XI: Gunners fans – a pipe dream or realistic targets?

Cech, Debuchy, Hummels, Koscielny, Gibbs, Khedira, Wilshere, Ramsey, Sanchez, Walcott, Cavani

Why would we buy Cech. That makes NO sense. He was JOINT golden glove winner last season with our already first team keeper. We bought Ospina this summer and have Martinez in the pipeline. Cech isn’t even first choice at Chelsea.

Why have you decided that our starting XI should only have X players?

Why do you think we’d pay so much for Khedira when he is basically just a more established Ramsey who’s contract ends soon? He’s not a DM or a holding playmaker(our midfield is out of balance because we don’t have a good enough stopper and starter of play).

Paying top wages isn’t our problem. It’s as you said, the wage, ‘structure’ that is. We have average to poor players in our squad who are on high wages. The philosophy being, “To keep a content/happy society, the disparity between the individuals must be as minimal as possible.”

At the moment, we need to buy defensive players.

    Just my thoughts

So we are just selling our best player from the last year and a half in Aaron Ramsey are we? What dross! Also, how likely is it that we would have the funds to not only go for Cavani, Hummels and Khedira, but then not be outbid for their services or actually have them choose us over our rivals.
