There is a certain poetry about the idea of Andy Carroll returning to Newcastle United. It seems that both have been, to varying degrees, broken since they parted company in 2011.
Newcastle have seen some decent Premier League finishes in that time but they have lacked a player who can lead the team to swashbuckling and unlikely victories.
Carroll too has drifted. He was unfortunate to go to Liverpool when the club was in a transitional period – changing managers regularly and failing to live up to expectations. West Ham has been home to him since then and, despite some positive signs on the pitch, injury has deprived him of anything like regular football.
So we wonder whether a reunion would be the perfect catalyst for both player and club. The Mirror reports that a Janaury deal could be on and we think that this is one of the more likely rumours doing the rounds right now. They say:
Newcastle to be offered Andy Carroll in January as West Ham look to offload injury-prone striker
Alan Pardew made enquiries about bringing the striker back to St. James’ Park in the summer but a January transfer could be favourable for all parties
Carroll is due some better luck with injuries and a return to the place where he made his name, with 33 goals in 91 games, could be the perfect spark for his career. There is little doubt that he would be welcomed home with open arms by the Newcastle faithful who don’t currently have a number 9 to really hang their hats on. At 25 Carroll should have his best years ahead.
Let’s see him banging in the goals for The Toon. Newcastle fans: perfect option?

Certainly would be a NO Brain decision to sign him. Even WHU are starting to play football now and don’t want the hoofball magnet and that’s with Allardyce!. Route 1 is Pardew’s level and for the 5 games you might actually get Carrol on the pitch that’s all we’d see.
We should so have moved on from Carrol by now (and Pardew.) Carrol’s lifestyle is someone else’s financial problem now, let them deal with it and remove the black and white ”he’s a geordie” specs.
