PICTURE: Arsenal’s Best XI with Ozil out

Better balance

After some particularly lack lustre performances in 2014 many fans believe that Arsenal’s best XI doesn’t include Ozil anyway.

But that price tag, along with the hope that he could rediscover the bewitching early form that lead so many to waste their hard-earned by putting his name on the back of their shirts, almost demands his selection. Can you imagine the furore if Wenger left Ozil on the bench for a month? Wenger would have become the ultimate critic of his own judgement. Wenger may see the injury as a veiled blessing – he no longer has to select the misfiring talent.

In retrospect, Wenger would possibly never have signed him. But he compounded the error by keeping Ozil in the summer when Cesc became available.

But that’s all history. Perhaps Ozil needs the break after so much football. He may come back stronger than ever. Meantime Arsenal must pick a slightly different side. And, for once, Arsene can be applauded for having so many attacking midfielders in his squad. Because he has amazing options there.

We would have thought that Aaron Ramsey would have been the perfect player to replace Ozil in the hole but he’s obviously out for now. When he returns in a month he could slot straight in.

In Ramsey’s absence the obvious contenders are Sanchez and Cazorla. Call us old fashioned but we like Sanchez’s pace out wide. We also think that this injury provides Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with a long overdue opportunity to cement his place on the other flank.

Get Cazorla in the hole behind Welbeck or Giroud and you have what looks like an even better side than when the German was involved.

So here’s our Ozil-less Arsenal. Let’s have your thoughts.

carzola,TR7, and Diaby is a better mid combination. Jack can do every other game for TR7

I prefer Flamini over Arteta and yeah I like Rosicky too sometimes for Jack. Otherwise that’s what I’d have. TR7 rarely gets a run of games so it’s hard for him to find form.

I dont get this shitt, why everyone is blaming Ozil.. he is the best freaken 10 so play him at # 10 position.

Use Cazorla as a super sub, you can always bring Cazorla in at the 60 min mark and put him on the wings or put Ozil in the wings and Cazorla as #10. But Ozil should never start a game on the wings – it’s not his forte.

Injury to Ozil will afford Chamberlain to improve himself on the right wing while Sanchez will man the left wing leaving Cazorla in number 10 position. Neither Flamini nor Arteta has the strength to excel as defensive midfielder. Also, the way Wilshere moves in the centre of the midfield kills the tempo of Arsenal football and exposes the midfield to counter attack especially when Wilshere makes moves that are impossible in modern football. Also, the introduction of active versatile central defender who can bench Mertesacker will make Arsenal title contenders. Ozil needs aggressive midfielder behind him.to succeed
