Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho knows that, however good his side are right now, constant investment is required to keep them at the top.
There was a suggestion all summer that Chelsea were on the look out for another midfielder to add to the purchase of Cesc Fabregas and two more have been linked of late.
The Guardian suggests that Chelsea will enter the very expensive race to sign Ross Barkley. The same source reports:
José Mourinho is also running the rule over Benfica’s 20-year-old midfielder Anderson Talisca…
We all know what Barkley is about. He’s a force of nature – a natural born footballer along the lines of Wayne Rooney. While there may be even more exciting prospects in the English game right now – Raheem Sterling chief amongst them – we believe that whoever snares Barkley will be the dominant force in The Premier League for the next ten years. Why?
Because, like Rooney, Barkley can become a complete footballer. A scorer of great goals in tight games. A creator extraordinaire. But also, and perhaps most importantly, a player with the athleticism and steel to drag his team through tough games almost single handedly. We can’t speak highly enough of the lad and we would take him over Sterling every time.
As for Anderson, he’s one of these players who has burst onto the scene from nowhere. The 20 year old attacking midfielder has scored 5 goals in 6 games for Benfica since his move from Bahia in the summer. He’s played twice for the Brazil U20s and looks a fine prospect.
Let’s take a look at the lad. Chelsea fans: keen?
