Arsenal fans seem pretty happy with the signing of Danny Welbeck on transfer deadline day this summer.
And his brace in midweek – albeit against average opposition – will probably make the fans even more chuffed with their purchase.
But you have to say that, on paper, their forward line is still lagging behind the other big boys in The Premier League.
Rooney, Falcao and RvP at Manchester United. Aguero, Dzeko and Jovetic at Manchester City. Chelsea and Liverpool also appear to have superior strike forces.
Arsenal’s front three of Podolski, Welbeck and Giroud doesn’t necessarily compare favourably to the other teams in the big five.
So they will surely be investing again before too long in their forward line. We can easily imagine Podolski leaving and Sanogo is going to take at least a couple of years to mature into a top striker, despite his promise.
Reports today suggest that Arsenal are interested in a Valencia striker.
The Guardian says:
In a similar category is Valencia striker Paco Alcacer, who played for Spain this week (although admittedly that’s not as an impressive a statement as it was a few years ago), and has been attracting interest from both Chelsea and Arsenal. Valencia want to tie him down to a new contract though, in order to ward off the circling vultures
The 21 year old has been earning rave reviews over the last year and recently made his debut for Spain. He has scored 1 gaol in 2 appearances in his budding international career.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Arsenal fans: would this represent a decent investment or should you be looking for a real A-lister next?
