Arsenal fans seemed almost unanimous in their disgust at not signing Cesc Fabregas when they had the chance this summer.
Although Arsenal have great depth in the creative midfield department many believe that when quality like this presents itself you simply have to act.
But Wenger passed up the opportunity and, in a manner which certainly tallies with his enthusiasm for prudence and youth, reports suggest that the boss is now keen on a player who has been likened to Fabregas.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has monitored Sergi Samper for a few years and that he may be prepared to pay his release clause, reported to be 12m Euros, in January.
Just 19 years of age Samper has played 41 times for the Barcelona B team and represented Spain at several youth levels, up to U19.
You would imagine that Arsenal would have a difficult job taking the player from the clutches of Barca. But the Spanish club continues to develop such an amazing pool of young talent that they can’t all make it.
It could be a superb deal for The Gunners if they can pay the release clause and snare the talented teen.
Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Arsenal fans: keen on the new Fabregas or still mad not have got the old one?
