We were so pleased that Everton signed Samuel Eto’o and he has already proven his prowess with a goal scoring debut in the defeat to Chelsea.
You would imagine that if Everton start September with no more strikers they should still be ok for the next few months.
But there is talk that Roberto Martinez is pursuing one more forward and he really could make the difference between a good and great season.
Danny Welbeck is rumoured to have been told that he can leave Manchester United should he decide that he wants guaranteed game time. And you would have thought that Everton would offer him that, despite the availability of Lukaku and Eto’o.
At 23 he’s a top talent – not the greatest marksman but a skillful and fluid player with pace, power and an eye for the unpredictable.
We would imagine that Manchester United would only grant a loan move at this stage of the player’s career but that could work beautifully for all parties.
The Daily Mail reckons that Everton are still in the mix for his services.
