It’s been a largely annoying summer for Manchester United fans who were expecting massive investment in the squad but so far haven’t seen it.
But there are two players who can wipe away all of the concerns and put Manchester United back on the front foot as the club enters the meat of the season.
Those names are, of course, Angel Di Maria and Arturo Vidal. The Vidal deal seems to be dragging on ad infinitum. But Manchester United could be inching towards a deal for Di Maria.
The standing ovation which he received, when he came as a substitute against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, looked every bit like a parting gesture.
And persistent reports suggest that he will be on the move before long.
Interestingly, English bookmaker SkyBet has shortened the odds on Di Maria joining Manchester United this summer. With a dozen days left of the transfer window the club are now 4/7 odds on favourites to bring the Argentine to the club if he does leave Real Madrid, having moved in from evens.
Despite PSG and Bayern Munich seemingly coming into the running again over the last few days, United are now clear favourites for Di Maria.
Manchester United fans: is this one going to happen or is it yet another pipe dream in the recent transfer failings of the club?

Di Maria is a vanity/luxury player at this stage. We need defensive reinforcements and a midfield general before bidding for the likes of Di Maria and Cuadrado. Stop wasting time and get the important positions filled first.

why u people are wasting ur time, Ed Woodward will never spend a big money to buy Di Maria, Cuadrado is available, he cannot avoid to buy him, he is very greedy

if Man united want to be top 4 in PL, they must sign 4 great players like….Angel Di Maria, Cuadrado, Memphis Debay , Daley Blind and maybe strootman in January, with all those players, Man United can boost of competing PL title
