A must buy

The general demeanour of Arsene Wenger really says it all about how he feels with his current Arsenal squad.

Gone is the borderline insanity which crossed his brow for some of last season and it’s as if the new signings have lifted a burden from his shoulders.

We would of course suggest that he needs to bolster other areas of the side. But, for one who is so obsessed with attacking midfielders, we are amazed that he hasn’t yet pulled out all the stops to sign Marco Reus.

The Metro reports today that time could be running out for Arsenal on this one as Atletico Madrid are serious about signing him.

Arsenal and Liverpool must act fast if they want to sign Marco Reus with reports in Spain suggesting he is close to joining Atletico Madrid.

But despite the Premier League duo being keen, Spanish radio station Cadena Cope say Atletico are in advanced talks to sign the player and are confident of a deal.

This guy is one of the best players in Europe already and still has room for improvement. But his balance and two-fotoed class are hard to find. He’s also a player of great efficiency who scores loads of goals and tends not to go missing from games, like so many creative talents.

Of course it would be difficult to shoe-horn yet another such player into the side with Walcott, Sanchez and The Ox vying for the wider positions.

But when players like this come along, you have to pursue them, because Reus – nicknamed ‘Woody’ in Germany – is a game-changer. With him cutting in from one flank and Sanchez from the other Arsenal would be a truly frightening force in England and Europe. The mouth waters just thinking about it.

Let’s see Reus in action. Arsenal fans: an attacking midfielder too far?
