Arsenal: Wenger wants forward whose game he called ‘extraordinary’ – report

Worth a punt?

It’s one that has been floating around the rumour mills for the last couple of years. A few years back Arsene Wenger spoke publicly about his admiration for Manchester United winger Nani.

He said:

I’m very impressed by Nani,’

‘I like what he is doing. He has individual quality in one-on-ones, but he has improved a lot in his team play and in front of goal.

‘He has started scoring goals with both feet, and is a great crosser of the ball.

‘Personally I think he has developed his game in an extraordinary way.’

Having seen Nani at close quarters on many occasions we have to say that we think it’s a bit of a strange penchant that Wenger has for the player.

Perhaps he sees Nani as the ultimate coaching challenge.

Because there is no doubt that, on his day, he can produce skill which is commensurate with any player in the world. That’s not an exaggeration. Nani can, sporadically, win games on his own.

The problem is that he seems to have no control over how to turn his genius on or off.

If Arsenal are going to employ players like Sanchez and Walcott upfront at times next season then they are going to need extra quality out wide.

And if Wenger could get Nani firing consistently then he could be a wonderful player – especially on the counter attack.

He just hasn’t shown the consistency at the top level, particularly in the last couple of years, where his form has tailed off to a worrying degree.

Nevertheless The Guardian speculates:

If Nani does decide to sign on the spotted line, he’ll cost Arsenal £9m smackeroos and a weekly wage somewhere in the region of £110k

For 3 or 4 million we thick he would definitely be worth the gamble. But for £9M Arsenal fans may prefer that Wenger looks elsewhere.

Let’s see some of his better moments. Arsenal fans: is this guy worth a punt?

we do not need nani at arsenal as we have enough wide men in ARSENAL such as WALCOTT CHAIMBERLAIN CARZOLA PODOSKI GNARBY rather than waste 9 million on NANI we should get BALOTELLI for 16 million and a frontline trio of WALCOTT BALOTELLI SANCHEZ will be too frightening and intimidating to any opposition defence
