Manchester United have done two bits of marvellous business so far – we are particularly excited to see Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera on the pre-season tour – but they will surely buy more stars, and get rid of a few, before the new season.
The Guardian speculates today that Manchester United could make as many as five more signings this summer. And the list makes sensational reading. We give our thoughts on the chances of each coming:
Daley Blind – There is talk of a scrap between Barcelona and Manchester United for this magician but United should be in a decent position to sign the player considering he’s a Dutchman. He would provide excellent cover for Luke Shaw and we also think that the pair could play in the same team together to form a frightening left flank partnership. Chances of signing: 6/10
Juan Cuadrado – he’s like a rich man’s Antonio Valencia. Just as fast and athletic but also more technically gifted and he carries a much bigger goal threat than the Ecuadorean. Barca may also fancy him. 6/10
Arturo Vidal – yet another week begins with the Arturo Vidal speculation clinging on for dear life. The latest news for Manchester United fans is that he has apparently put his Italian house on the market. Another portent of his move to Manchester United? 8/10
Edinson Cavani – He would be a brilliant addition to the squad but not at the expense of Wayne Rooney – as is being suggested. Both would do nicely! 5/10
Stefan De Vrij – we really like the look of this lad and whilst we think Mats Hummels should be the priority at centre back, De Vrij, at 22, would be an excellent signing for the long-term. A centre back with genuine skill. 8/10
Let’s see Cuadrado in action. Manchester United fans: attainable targets?
