Manchester United agree to €50m deal for Europe’s hot property – report

Manchester United are closer than many imagine to mounting a serious challenge for the title again. With players like Mata, Herrera and Shaw refreshing the squad Manchester United will not lack for creativity next season.

But it’s commonly agreed that Manchester United need more grit and dynamism in the engine room to complement and proliferate the artistry in the side – someone to control the game and to hold the fort while others bomb forward.

Many would argue that Manchester United haven’t had a really top midfield general since Roy Keane. And you owuld have to go back further still for one who also scored loads of goals.

Bryan Robson truly was Captain Marvel for Manchester United as he offered the perfect shield for the defence, went box-to-box and chipped in with his fair share of vital goals.

Arturo Vidal arguably has exactly the same skill set. He’s the ultimate football warrior who also scores goals – 28 in 95 league games for Juventus isn’t bad for a striker, never mind a midfield enforcer.

Reports over the last 24 hours suggest that Manchester United may have an agreement in place. Arturo Vidal is one of Europe’s hottest properties and a much sought after player. Reports yesterday suggested that Manchester United are prepared to pay the €50m (£40m) that Juventus want for their star turn.

The Daily Express reported Friday:

Man Utd agree to £40m deal for Juventus star Arturo Vidal

MANCHESTER UNITED are on the verge of launching a £40million bid for Arsenal target Arturo Vidal after Juventus named their price.

The Daily Star takes a slightly different stance today but the thrust of the story remains that Manchester United want Vidal to take them forward.

MANCHESTER UNITED have been told by Juventus that they will pay £45m and hand over Nani if they want to sign Arturo Vidal.

…reports in Italy claim that the Serie A champions have told United that they will only let the Chilean midfielder leave Turin if they receive £45m and Red Devils outcast Nani

Ooh, let me have a think about that one! In truth, many Manchester United fans are so frustrated with Nani that they would be happy for the club to pay someone to take him off their hands! But if he can facilitate a deal for Vidal in some way then it’s happy days.

LvG has previously stated his love of Vidal and he must be aware of Manchester United’s frailtes in that area of the pitch. He said:

“I always wanted to buy Vidal when he was at Bayer Leverkusen but he went to Juventus.”

So let’s have another look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans: is this the final piece in the jigsaw?
