Chelsea lining up another spending spree – report

Chelsea haven’t wasted too much time in the transfer window and Jose Mourinho will look at next season as make or break for the club – after a year in which he’s been able to mould the team to his liking.

Chelsea have all but bagged two stars in Fabregas and Costa – two fantastic purchases, by any standards.

But reports today in The Daily Express suggest that Chelsea are looking to do three more quick fire deals:

And the Spanish international could be joined at Stamford Bridge by as many as THREE other Atletico stars.

Former Chelsea midfielder Tiago Mendes is set to rejoin on a free transfer while left-back Filipe Luis is pushing for a £19m move.

Express Sport also understands Mourinho is also keen on signing central defender Miranda, who has been repeatedly linked to Premier League rivals United.

The left back position obviously needs sorting out. Cesar Azpilicueta did a fantastic job last season but it looks as Jose Mourinho wants a natural left footer in there for the longer term.

In that respect Filipe Luis has been linked for a long time. Chelsea also seemed keen on Luke Shaw but now that that ship has sailed we expect Mourinho to tie up the Luis deal imminently.

Ex-Chelsea boy Tiago looks like a surprise addition but represents a low risk investment. Meanwhile, Miranda is another player who has been linked with Manchester United this summer – its reportedly £24m

At 29 Miranda had a fantastic season at Atletico Madrid and just missed the cut for the final Brazil squad this summer.

The stumbling block is Miranda’s release clause which seems very high for someone of his age.

But there is little doubt over his quality. He’s got brilliant feet, great aerial presence and generally commands the defence beautifully.

He’d be a particularly good signing for Chelsea for our money.

Let’s see Miranda in action. Chelsea fans: keen?

Miranda 24m for 29 yrs old player? Must be dreaming ! We sud rather stick with omeru or else sign Lovren /varane as a cheap and longterm investment. Miranda deal wud be a step back to our youth star tm project. In fact paying 19m for Luis is also insane rather sign moreno / Ricardo rodriguez. Mou in the making of spartans tm again 🙁
