Real Madrid are set to begin negotiations over the potential transfer of James Rodriguez. The forward, who is currently plying his trade at Monaco, could well move to the Spanish giants according to Marca.
The forward is currently top scorer at The World Cup in Brazil and has so far put in a number of excellent performances to help Colombia reach the quarter finals.
He joined Monaco last season for a fee reported to be around £36 million. This would mean that Real Madrid would likely have to spend big to land the player who has become a stand out performer in Brazil.
The 22 year old is also a lifelong Real Madrid fan and is known to harbour ambitions of playing for the Spanish giants. The same source quotes Rodriguez as saying: “I’d like to play in Spain and I prefer Real Madrid to Barcelona.”
His career at club level has already seen him find the net 61 times in all competitions despite his young age. The winger has also scored 10 goals in just 26 caps for his national side.
Meanwhile speculation continues to mount about the future of Toni Kroos. Contract negotiations between the player and Bayern Munich have stalled over the past few months. The German outfit are reportedly unwilling to increase their contract offer making a move away likely. With just one year left on his contract it makes sense for Bayern to cash in on a player who is much in demand.
Spanish paper Marca reports that Real Madrid are close to signing Kroos, having entered advanced negotiations with the midfielder last month.
Any move though is expected to be delayed until after The World Cup as the German is fully committed to his duty to his national side.
