When we talk about the standout performers at The World Cup so far, players like Arjen Robben, Luis Suarez and Neymar immediately spring to mind.
But while the high profile goal-scorers tend to get most of the plaudits these stars would be nowhere without the creators of these goals. In this respect few have offered better service at this World Cup than Columbia wide man Juan Cuadrado.
Arsenal fans will have been made aware over the last few days that the club is potentially interested in signing the player this summer. The Express, among others, have reported the link this week.
ARSENAL are set to hold talks over a move for Liverpool and Manchester United target Juan Guillermo Cuadrado.
Cuadrado is currently at the World Cup in Brazil, where he has helped Colombia record back-to-back wins to top Group C.
But the 26-year-old’s future at Italian club Fiorentina is uncertain amid plenty of interest across Europe.
There were strong rumours that Cuadrado was going to sign for Barcelona as a replacement for Danny Alves at wing back this summer. And although Cuadrado is seen as more of a coventional winger, Barca don’t really play with regular defenders do they?
The report suggests that the player is valued at £32m. This does seem like a lot of money. But, not only is the 26 year old becoming one of the best wingers in the world, but he could also fill in at right back when needed.
Cuadrado is an extremely hard worker who never stops running but also provides excellent consistency with his final ball. He’s a tricky winger but also a real team man.
If Arsenal are indeed planning talks then perhaps Cuadrado, and not Balotelli, will be the first arrival at Arsenal this summer.
Let’s have a look at the Lad in action. Arsenal fans: too expensive?

There is too much suspense and unbridled innuendo in the emirate. Let,s do more open business.

Actually why would you want this. As a Gooner, I don’t want our transfer business aired out in public where the oil rich clubs can become aware of potential targets, only to swoop in with insanely high bids for a player, and leaving us empty handed. I believe there is too much belief in rumors made up by the media and agents to create story’s and for agents to put themselves in a position to take a very nice payday from their clients deals. On the other hand, if we have inquired for players to distract from our actual targets then this is an excellent technique deployed by Wenger and AFC. I’m disgusted at all the “Wenger Hating” that occurs during transfer periods. Last year we got Ozil, after all the talk of Higuain and Suarez (Thank god this disgraceful cannibal isn’t part of our club) w/ out having to listen to months of rumors about the possibilitly of us getting him. Before that Wenger brought in Poldi, Santi, & Giroud, and still many supporters bashed Wenger for an unsuccessful Transfer market. For me, these were all great signings who were an integral part of our progression as a squad last year. The year before we got “THE BFG” & again tons of hating on him and Wenger, and now he looks set to possibly be our next captain, which I believe he should be. His progression, and leadership, as well as his consistency and durability are invaluable to our squad.
To conclude, it’s not Wengers fault that stories are made up, and when I look at the additions to the squad during the last 2 years, I have to disagree with those who assume our transfers were horrific and that Wenger is to blame. I do understand when supporters become upset about key losses, but for me Van Traitor was the only serious loss, and as I put in his name, he is an unloyal traitor, so SCREW him why would we keep someone at the club who does not want to be part of the club.
Supporting the manager is supporting the club all the same as supporting a player. I think there are to many overly ambitious supporters who believe anything they read, and make us as fans look bad when we dog our own manager who has done terrific things for our club. I think it’s only fair that we do not say any negative comments about our transfer dealings until the window closes. Our gaffer obviously knows what he’s doing, and a little support and patience would only make us look classier. Any Gooner who cant support our transfer activity, as long as we strengthen the squad; should go support city, chelsea, or any other incredibly rich, oil funded club instead of bringing negativity to our team and amazing coach who have done so much for us as Gooners.
