So is this Arsenal’s first summer signing?
When we talk about the standout performers at The World Cup so far, players like Arjen Robben, Luis Suarez and Neymar immediately spring to mind.
But while the high profile goal-scorers tend to get most of the plaudits these stars would be nowhere without the creators of these goals. In this respect few have offered better service at this World Cup than Columbia wide man Juan Cuadrado.
Arsenal fans will have been made aware over the last few days that the club is potentially interested in signing the player this summer. The Express, among others, have reported the link this week.
ARSENAL are set to hold talks over a move for Liverpool and Manchester United target Juan Guillermo Cuadrado.
Cuadrado is currently at the World Cup in Brazil, where he has helped Colombia record back-to-back wins to top Group C.
But the 26-year-old’s future at Italian club Fiorentina is uncertain amid plenty of interest across Europe.
There were strong rumours that Cuadrado was going to sign for Barcelona as a replacement for Danny Alves at wing back this summer. And although Cuadrado is seen as more of a coventional winger, Barca don’t really play with regular defenders do they?
The report suggests that the player is valued at £32m. This does seem like a lot of money. But, not only is the 26 year old becoming one of the best wingers in the world, but he could also fill in at right back when needed.
Cuadrado is an extremely hard worker who never stops running but also provides excellent consistency with his final ball. He’s a tricky winger but also a real team man.
If Arsenal are indeed planning talks then perhaps Cuadrado, and not Balotelli, will be the first arrival at Arsenal this summer.
Let’s have a look at the Lad in action. Arsenal fans: too expensive?
