Arsenal in talks for World Class Star – report

Arsene-Wenger

Top talent

Much of the talk over the last week has been about whether Arsenal will make a bid for Italy striker Mario Balotelli.

It’s easy to imagine him playing for Arsenal – providing the sort of grit and cutting edge that The Gunners still lack – but manager Arsene Wenger seems to be in typically cautious mood in relation to transfers. Whether he is unsure about the player or he has managed to keep any talks secretive we shall surely find out before too long.

But another name has popped into the equation this afternoon. The Daily Star suggests that Arsenal may have jumped to the front of the queue for the world class talent of Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean international has had a superb World Cup so far and illustrated against Holland that he’s not only got magic in his feet but he works like an absolute warrior. He really put in the hard yards for his national team on Monday and deserved to come away with something.

Even though he scored 21 goals for Barcelona last season there have been persistent rumours about this departure and the likes of Manchester United and Juventus have been linked. But The Daily Star reckons that Arsenal could now pip the competition to his signature.

Arsenal hold talks with Liverpool and Man Utd target Alexis Sanchez over £20m switch

reports in Italy now suggest Arsenal are the new front runners to sign Sanchez after manager Arsene Wenger held positive talks with the Chilean’s representative over a potential switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Serie A champions Juventus had been in pole position to bring the former Udinese ace back to Italy.

It is understood that Sanchez would actually prefer a move to the Premier League rather than a return Serie A.

Arsenal seem fairly well stocked in the wide areas but the Sanchez link comes hot on the heels of speculation linking Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado with a move to The Gunners.

Let’s see Sanchez in action. Arsenal fans: Whats not to like?

How are Arsenal stocked in the wide areas? They’re stocked with inside attacking midfielders who are played on the wing because there are too many of them. Sanchez would give the legitimate width and pace only provided by Walcott at the moment. Wenger looks set on AOC becoming a central midfielder, and Gnabry, despite looking sharp, barely played in the second half of the season despite Walcott’s absence.
