Arsenal’s summer shopping list revealed?

Good Enough?

Arsenal are yet to indulge in the transfer market so far this summer. It may be unfair to suggest that they are dragging their heels, as The World Cup has clearly slowed down the whole market over the last few weeks.

But Arsenal fans won’t need reminding that Chelsea and Liverpool have still managed to do decent business and Arsene Wenger isn’t known for being particularly hasty in the market is he?

But they will need to move soon in order to snare their top targets. Two have been linked today and Arsenal fans might not be overwhelmed by the suggestions.

The Guardian reports that Arsenal want Manchester United duo Tom Cleverley and Chris Smalling.

Arsène Wenger wants to return the favour and take some dead wood off Louis van Gaal’s hands by moving for Tom Cleverley and Chris Smalling.

Cleverley had a disastrous season for Manchester United, going from England regular to peripheral club player in one season.

He’s a hard-working midfielder but struggles to impose himself on the game and goes missing for long periods.

soccersweep thinks that, conversely, Chris Smalling has had bad press. He was played out of position a lot under David Moyes and, unlike Manchester United team mate Phil Jones, he’s not comfortable at all at right-back.

But as a centre back he has put in some really good performances and we think he will turn out to be a really good central defender. He quicker than an alarmed squirrel, strong and has a decent range of passing. Whether Manchester United will be prepared to let him go is highly debatable.

With strong rumours linking Arsenal to Mario Balotelli and Serge Aurier also potentially coming to the club we could be looking at Arsenals shopping list for the summer.

The question on every Gunners fan’s lips will surely be whether Cleverley and Smalling are good enough to improve Arsenal’s first team?

Arsenal fans what do you reckon?
