Arsenal favourites to sign rock solid international

A really wise signing

You’d have to say that Arsenal could do with some strengthening this summer.

Balotelli and Remy would be fantastic additions up top.

A mobile and commanding holding midfielder would also add serious steel to the squad.

And another centre back and right full back might be required if some of the current squad leaves. As most of us know Sagna is off and Vermaelen could follow.

So how about Steven Caulker for centre back?

At 22 he’s been a really consistent performer in The Premier League, whether turning out for Tottenham or Cardiff.

With Cardiff now relegated to The Championship he will surely make a move this summer. And Arsenal are favourites with bookmakers Skybet for his signature if he does leave his current club this summer at odds of 3/1.

He surely wouldn’t cost a lot more than the £8 million Cardiff paid for him and we think that this would be a steal for a player with a serious shout for an England future. At 22 he would want, but wouldn’t expect, to play every week so he could learn his trade from likes of the excellent Mertesacker and Koscielny while filling in for them when they are injured or need resting.

Caulker is strong, pacey, reliable and offers a genuine goal threat from set pieces as he illustrated in his England debut.

That’s have a look at the lad in action. Arsenal fans: do you agree that this signing makes a heck of a lot of sense?
