Some teams haven’t even played at The World Cup yet but we are already starting to get a feeling for some of the prominent players at this tournament.

Despite England’s loss against Italy at the weekend we saw a super performance from the brilliant young creative midfielder/forward Raheem Sterling who pulled the strings for his national side and looks as if he’s going to be a real bright note in the tournament – should England get to the latter stages.

Another young player who did a great job in the opening game was Antoine Griezmann for France against Honduras.

You never quite know what you’re going to get from France at The World Cup – they go from the sublime to the ridiculous very quickly – but Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema had a super goal-scoring performance to see France through their first game with ease. Another excellent player on the night was Griezmann, whose penetrative running and distribution marked him out as one of the better performers on the night.

Marca has reported that Griezmann is one of Real Madrid’s targets for this summer.

At 23 years of age he’s been flying over the last season for Real Sociedad and has scored 3 goals in his 4 international appearances so far. Having made his debut for France in 2014 you would imagine that he’s lucky to be in the squad but he has already become one of the more prominent players in the side. With these super displays he has come to the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

It seems that Real Madrid may have to speed up the process if they want to sign the player as he will have many suitors based on his performance against Honduras.

Let’s have a look at Griezmann in action. Real Madrid fans: Should you sign Griezmann up now to avoid losing him?
