BREAKING REPORTS: Fabregas to Chelsea DONE

In breaking developments Cesc Fabregas has confirmed that he is to join Chelsea with a deal having been finalised just hours before the World Cup begins.

The Express reports:

CHELSEA have finalised the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona.

….and in a statement that has just been released the player himself said of the Chelsea move:

“I do feel that I have unfinished business in the Premier League and now is the right time for me to return. Yes, everyone knows that Arsenal had the first option to sign me. They decided not to take this option and therefore it wasn’t meant to be. I wish them well in the future.

“I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice. They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies. They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager. I am fully committed to this team and I can’t wait to start playing.

Fabregas had been the subject of intense speculation regarding his future after reports last week that Barcelona were prepared to sell the player to part-fund an overhaul of the squad after a poor season by their standards.

Arsenal and Manchester United fans will be sad to see that this one got away. But Chelsea continue to do some superb business this summer. Traditionally teams that do their business early in the summer tend to do well in The Premier League the following year and Chelsea will surely be favourites for next season’s title now.

We shall keep you updated on events as they unfold but this one is now in the bag for Jose.

Chelsea fans are you made up with this signing? Arsenal fans would you have taken Fab back even though you have a wealth of creative midfielders in the squad right now?
