Arsenal in talks to sign prodigy – report

Move on?

Arsenal had a largely excellent defence last season, save for the obvious hiccups. But with Sagna now confirmed to be leaving the club this summer and serious doubts over the future of Thomas Vermaelen, it looks as if reinforcements will be needed.

The name Serge Aurier has oft been mentioned in relation to the right back slot. And whether or not Carl Jenkinson steps up to the plate at right back next season, Arsenal will need another body in there.

As for the central position, we think Vermaelen will call it quits at Arsenal this summer so Arsene could well need another centre back to boot.

The Metro today suggests that Arsenal have identified just such a man:

Arsenal open talks with Gremio over Brazilian defender Bressan

Arsenal have held talks with Brazilian side Gremio over a deal for their talented defender Bressan.

The 21-year-old is rated as one of the best youngsters in Serie A and Arsene Wenger wants to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

It’s always exciting to get a Brazilian in – even a defender – and this guy is getting great plaudits in his homeland. He only moved to Gremio in 2013 and has played just 18 league games for them. But such is the demand for talent in Europe these days that when such potential is identified, the money generally does the talking.

At 21 the World Cup has come too early for this lad but we would fully expect to see him playing for Brazil in future.

What type of excellent defence concede 5 & 6 goals only Arsenal type of defence, we always give our best players away looking for cheap ones just to develop and sell.
