As envisaged by much of the English press Real Madrid may well spend a big chunk of their summer trying to persuade a certain Uruguayan to join the club. Karim Benzema has done a decent job at Real but, despite a good goal-scoring record, he doesn’t seem to have captured the imagination of Real Madrid supporters. And, as we know, Real are a club that is always looking to strengthen and improve.

Talk of a massive deal has been intensifying over the last couple of weeks even though the player seems very happy and settled at his current club.

Apart from that one Real Madrid will probably add one player to the midfield also.

With Xabi Alonso coming to the end of his career Real Madrid will possibly look at a midfield general – someone to anchor the engine room and set the tempo from the middle next season.

One who has been linked on a regular basis to the club is Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

Earlier in the week Marca suggested that Madrid aren’t interested in signing the player and he has also just signed a new contract with Juventus.

But rumours of a massive Real Madrid bid are nevertheless floating about and bookmaker Bet Victor have Real Madrid as favourites to sign him if he does move, at odds of 11/4.

A 27-year-old is coming into his absolute prime and was increasingly dominant in the heart of the midfield last season scoring goals and breaking up attacks.

If he has a good World Cup then demand for his signature will only increase.

Let’s have a look at Vidal in action. Real Madrid fans is: this a player that you should prioritise the signing of this summer?
