Arsenal are clearly prioritising the capture of another goalkeeper after Łukasz Fabiański was allowed to leave for Swansea in the week.
And while reports have suggested that a £6m bid for Cardiff keeper David Marshall has been turned down The Metro suggests that Arsenal may try their hand for the the oft-linked Iker Casillas of Real Madrid.
Arsenal have made an approach to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas for next season, according to reports in Spain.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with Casillas in recent weeks, with the Madrid captain said to be considering his future after failing to establish himself as first-choice.
Arsenals number one goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny was one of the players of the season so should retain his top spot but Casillas has been one of the best keepers in world game over the last decade and could really push Szczęsny and keep him on his toes.
So while he would be our choice for an Arsenal purchase you would imagine that Marshall would be more prepared to sit on the bench and wait for his chance than the highly accomplished Spaniard. At 29 Marshall would surely jump at the chance to play for Arsenal even if it meant being seen, initially at least, as a squad member – back up for the number one.
Arsenal fans which would you prefer given the choice?
Let’s have a look at Casillas in action again – Arsenal fans, would you prefer Marshall or Casillas?
