Without yet spending any cash on major signings the rumour mill is going into overdrive about Manchester United’s transfer budget, which could stand at a whopping £200m plus million this summer.
The Daily Mail invites us to believe today that Manchester United want these six players:
Mats Hummels – What are Manchester United waiting for? If this guy is potentially available then Manchester United simply have to snap him up especially considering the dearth of really top class central defenders in the wake of Rio and Nemanja’s departures.
Cesc Fabregas – Some believe that Manchester united are no longer interested in signing this Spanish international. But with Manchester United so obviously lacking creativity and class in the centre of midfield it’s hard to imagine Louis van Gaal not fancying this chap. Pure class.
Luke Shaw – The same source says this one should be completed in the next few days.
Kev Strootman – Kev has shown his class wherever he’s played in a short career and despite his injury he had a standout season for Roma. He’s only been in Italy for 12 months but LvG has a few weeks with the national team to persuade him to join Manchester United’s revolution.
Koke – this guy has been an absolute sensation in La Liga this season and still has his whole career ahead of him. Might prove an even more dynamic solution to Fabregas but he would cost an awful lot of money.
Miranda – We would take Hummels, given the chance, simply because the German is four years younger. But Manchester United may well look for two centre backs this summer and a pairing of Hummels and Miranda could work nicely.
