Everton keen on prodigious talents – report

Lukaku - wanted man

Two more linked

With the season far from over, and Everton still having so much to play for, the rumour mill seems to be kicking into overdrive with regards summer acquisitions.

Roberto Martinez will probably be busy in the market as he tries to take Everton up a notch. And reports over the last 24 hours have suggested that yet another two players are on the Everton radar.

The Guardian says:

With Gerard Deulofeu likely to return to Barcelona, he is watching Celtic’s winger, James Forrest, valued at about £7m, and also contemplating a bid for Andrew Robertson, the Dundee United left-back.

It will be a real shame if Deulofeu does return to Barcelona as he’s had such a promising start to life at Everton. Will he get a game at Barcelona or rot in the reserves? I know what I’d do given the choice of playing in front of the Goodison faithful or a couple of hundred fans in Spain.

That said James Forrest does seem like an exciting talent. At just 22 he’s already played 81 times in the league for Celtic scoring a notable 18 goals in the process from the wider areas.

As you’d expect, for a successful Scottish player at Celtic, he’s also appeared for the national side on nine occasions.

And although Everton seem pretty well set in the left back area they have also been linked with Dundee United fullback Andy Robertson. Just 20 years of age he seems to be on a similar trajectory to Forrest and has also turned out for the Scotland national side, making his debut this year.

You do always worry about Scottish players making the grade in England. But Everton have had some success down the years with Scottish imports.

Let’s take a look at Forrest in action. Everton fans would you like to see the club investing in youth or focus on signing a couple of top stars this summer?
