Chelsea haven’t had the greatest of weeks but, overall, it’s been a decent season and you can imagine the summer will be a busy time for transfers as the Mourinho rebuild continues.
The Diego Costa rumour has been going on for months and the latest reports suggest a deal may have been struck.
The Mirror says:
Chelsea have reportedly agreed a £32m fee with Atletico Madrid for striker Diego Costa.
The Blues have been repeatedly linked with a move for the Brazil-born Spain international, and the forward scored a crucial penalty in Los Rojiblancos’ 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
£32 million does seem on the cheap side for a player who is so sought-after and is probably Europe’s hottest striking property right now .
Nevertheless Jose Mourinho has implied for a long time that he would be spending a lot of money on strikers this summer and we think Diego Costa completely fits the bill of the sort of player that The Special One likes upfront.
He’s got real power and strength in his upper body which allows him to hold the ball up well and provide all sorts of physical problems for opposition defences.
Add to this his brilliant awareness, fantastic feet and the overall composure which he demonstrated again against Chelsea in the week, and you have a really top player on your hands.
Still only in his mid 20s this guy could become a legend for Chelsea. As we have said before his the only obvious weakness is that he doesn’t have huge amounts of pace – but nor did Didier Drogba.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans: If this is the only striker you buy this summer will you be happy enough?
