Arsenal: Top target identified – report

Super middle man

Now this seems like a really sensible target for Arsenal.

Last summer they were linked with all manner of attacking midfielders when other areas of the park desperately needed attention.

If Arsenal want to really challenge then we think that they need to buy a striker and a beast of a central midfielder first and second. A powerhouse centre back would also be a good addition. It’s really not rocket science.

And to this end Arsenal seem to be going in the right direction if recent reports are to be believed. Loic Remy could soon be the subject of a bid from Arsenal and The Daily Mail reckons that Arsenal’s number one target this summer is a really solid midfielder:

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender is fast emerging as Arsenal’s first-choice midfield target this summer.

Arsene Wenger has made a new defensive midfielder a priority this summer, as well as at least one central striker.

And the Gunners will make a move to bring the Germany international to the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season.

The 25-year-old has played around 160 league games for Leverkusen and is now a stalwart at the club. He has also turned out 17 times for the German national side scoring four goals.

So, while he’s not a regular for Germany yet, he has made an impact when he’s played for them.

He’s a really good quality all-round midfielder who is great with the ball, a good passer and someone doesn’t mind the odd crunching tackle. We think he’s exactly what Arsenal needs to add substance to the flair. Someone to dig in when backs are against the wall.

Let’s take a look at him in action.
