Who could Simeone persuade to join United?

Sadly we think that, after one failed attempt, Manchester United are abandoning their policy of trying to sign an empire builder as manager of the club.

Manchester United may play it safe with a hired gun of proven pedigree after the Moyes malaise. There is now intense speculation that Louis van Gaal is now the frontrunner for the job.

It’s a shame that Manchester United aren’t going to be a bit more daring in this respect because a manager like Diego Simeone could breathe new life into the club.

The van Gaals and Ancelottis of this world will obviously offer stability and competitiveness in the squad. But the beauty of someone like Simeone is that there are no limits to what he could potentially achieve as a manager and he is still so hungry.

Importantly the Argentinian could also bring some brilliant players to the club with the connections that he has made during a stellar career.

Kokethe rumour mills were going crazy about this guy coming to Manchester United last winter and he has had a great second half to the season. Currently Manchester United might struggle to bring him in from a thriving Spanish side but that would all change if Simeone was manager.

Diego Costa – Manchester United arguably don’t need any more strikers but with this player in such is sensational form he could surely improve any team. Seemingly favourite to join Chelsea right now but that deal could also be affected if Simeone went to Manchester United.

Leo Messi – They are both Argentinian. Done deal then!?
