It may be argued that Manchester United have little to nothing to play for as the chance of Champions League football next season now seems very remote. But David Moyes’s job is very much still on the line after a season where the standards have slipped alarmingly at Old Trafford. Manchester United fans will want to see a strong end to the campaign as a portent that Moyes is starting to turn things around.
As for Everton, they fleetingly had their Champions League destiny in their own hands but, after defeat to Crystal Palace at Goodison they are once more looking for other results to go their way. Nevertheless the season should be seen as a success with a record number of Premier League points on the table and a style of play that has left the neutral exceedingly impressed.
All this should make for a fascinating encounter.
