With Manchester City out of The Champions League and the FA Cup, the success of their season rests on their pursuit of surely the most competitive league in twenty years. With Chelsea hammering Arsenal at lunch time, they have once more strengthened their position at the top. But Manchester City will still go back to the top if they win their games in hand. A victory against Felix Magath’s struggling side is an absolute imperative.
As for Fulham, with them stranded at the very bottom of the league, the need for a win is just as great. But the chances of that happening are extremely slight. They can take heart from Wigan’s incredible performance here in the cup but results like that do not come along very often. You would imagine that Fulham will still be at least four points from safety come the end of the game.
