Manchester United vs Olympiakos – Champions League 1st Knockout Round, Old Trafford, 1945 Kick Off (UK)

Man Utd: De Gea, Da Silva, Jones, Ferdinand, Evra, Welbeck, Giggs, Carrick, Valencia, Rooney, van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Hernandez, Young, Fletcher, Kagawa, Fellaini, Januzaj.

Olympiakos: Roberto, Leandro Salino, Manolas, Marcano, Holebas, Perez, Ndinga, Dominguez, Maniatis, David Fuster, Campbell. Subs: Megyeri, Paulo Machado, Samaris, Haedo Valdez, Papadopoulos, Vergos, Bong Songo.

Never mind squeaky bum time. This has been rotten rectum season. Manchester United who, lest we forget, won the league at a canter last season are now out of the title race by March. Apparently that squad of title winners has suddenly all turned rubbish.

Nonsense. Manchester United still have more world class players than most teams on the planet. Any club with RvP and Rooney up front should be a serious threat, regardless of who is behind them.

Alas, David Moyes just hasn’t had the secret formula to get Manchester United purring this season. It all seems a million miles away from Manchester United’s demolition of Swansea on the first day of the season which seemed to suggest that Moyes would take the reigns seamlessly.

But the wheels have since come off in spectacular fashion to the utter glee of the ABUs. Meanwhile the Manchester United fans have spent most of the season with head in hands, only coming up every few months to ask themselves ‘how much worse can it get?’

Manchester United need to qualify with a dominant display tonight otherwise the writing is surely on the wall for David Moyes.
