Manchester United: Giants ‘preparing 60m’ move for target

Many look at Manchester United now and crave for the management of Sr Alex Ferguson – the days when things were clear for the club. Basically, each year brought a top trophy and the team played beautifully.

But even the legend got it wrong from time to time. He let Jaap Stam go way too early. He bought Juan Sebastien Veron to play in Paul Scholes’s position – that didn’t work – and the signing of Dimitar Berbatov was arguably an expensive mistake.

One error that is commonly regarded as one of his worst was to allow Paul Pogba to leave the club two years ago. Desperate for first team action and wanting to be paid in proportion to his burgeoning talents Pogba refused to sign a new contract at Manchester United and Juventus snapped him up.

The rest is history, as Pogba has gone on to become one of the best midfielders in Europe. Such is his progress that reports today suggest that Real Madrid are preparing to make him one of their major summer signings. A Bola reports:

Real Madrid preparing 60 million to hire Pogba

According to the Italian press, the president of the meringues, Florentino Perez is prepared to present in the coming weeks, a proposal of € 60 million to convince Juventus to release the French international, only 20 years old

Manchester United were linked with the player in January as David Moyes scouted a number of players in Italy. We could imagine him filling the hole in Manchester United’s midfield brilliantly – he’s super skilful, powerful, has a great engine and scores great goals – but 60m Euros seems a little bit too much to pay for a player that you released for a nominal amount just a couple of years ago.

If the price really is going to be that high then we think Manchester United will look elsewhere for midfield solutions this summer.
