Manchester City look particularly well stocked in most areas of the pitch right now. Barring widespread injuries you can’t see them struggling to fill any position for the foreseeable future. Perhaps, in time, they may look at another centre-back and a goalkeeper.
But recent reports have suggested that Manchester City may look to invest in a midfielder before the end of this window. Yesterday The Daily Express opined:
MANCHESTER CITY are lining up an £8m bid for PSG star Blaise Matuidi despite interest from Chelsea.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to beef up his midfield in order to take the pressure off key duo Fernandinho and Yaya Toure, and would prefer to wrap up a transfer this week.
The 26 year old Frenchman is a player of serious pedigree. Having signed for Paris St Germain in 2011 for around €7.5 million the defensive midfielder has gone on to play for his team 84 times. He has also represented the French national side on 19 occasions.
There have been rumblings over the last year or so that the player might be unsettled at the club – yet he has appeared 25 times for PSG already this season.
With the news of Manchester City’s potential interest SkyBet have opened up a market on the player’s next destination. With Chelsea also apparently interested Manchester City are at the short odds of 6/4 to sign the player if he does leave PSG in January. Chelsea come in at second favourites at 4/1. Having just signed Nemanja Matic for over £20m you might imagine that Manchester City would have a fairly clear run if they do show serious interest in the player this week.
Let’s see Matuidi in action.
