Chelsea fans will be experiencing mixed emotions during this window. The signing of Nemanja Matic really looks to have symbolised the return of Jose Mourinho to the club. He’s bought in a solid defensive midfielder – the like of which brought Chelsea so much success in Mourinho’s first stint at the club.
The recently confirmed signing of Mohammed Salah will surely get the fans excited. He’s just 21 years of age and has a lot of improvement ahead of him before he could become a nailed on starter for the club. But he’s going to get better and better over the years.
Still, the loss of Juan Mata has left many Chelsea fans perplexed. The Spaniard wasn’t getting a game but Chelsea fans love him and most would have kept him if it were down to them.
But Chelsea will move forward and try not to look back. Two more brilliant players have been linked to Chelsea again today. One of the rumours suggests that a deal has already been done.
The Guardian says that Chelsea are keen on Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann:
In news that will displease Arsenal, Liverpool and United, Spanish TV station La Sexta report that Chelsea have already agreed a £31m deal with Atlético Madrid that will bring the in-form goalscorer Diego Costa to Stamford Bridge next summer, while German newspaper Bild claims José Mourinho is also monitoring the progress of the 22-year-old Real Sociedad midfielder Antoine Griezmann.
We think Costa is exactly the sort of striker that Chelsea will sign this summer. Their coach loves a player who can battle as well as amaze with his skill. Costa is certainly no shrinking violet and also has a beautiful touch. He’s a really top player who has scored more goals in La Liga than he has appearances for the club this season. It’s no wonder that some of the biggest clubs in Europe are circling for his signature. At 25, he has got his best four or five years ahead of him.
Whether a deal has actually been done with Chelsea is highly debatable. But they will surely be towards the top of the queue during the summer if they do want him.
Griezmann has also been linked with several clubs around Europe after some impressive performances this season. The Real Sociedad winger has played over 100 times for his current club even at the tender age of 22 – scoring an exceptional 42 goals in the process. The Frenchman has yet to play for the senior international side but has represented France at youth level.
