The ship seems to have steadied somewhat in relation to Southampton. After news broke last week of the chairman leaving the club at short notice, there was a panic amongst Southampton fans about a potential stampede for players and an ensuing firesale of assets.
Thankfully the manager subsequently stated that he was staying at the club for the foreseeable future and that seems to have reassured a lot of people.
The same can’t be said for Fulham who appear to be in a full-blown crisis right now. Their coach Rene Meulensteen continues to smile through the post match interviews but he can’t be particularly happy with the way his team is performing.
Fulham need to make some signings in the winter window, to give the club a psychological boost, if nothing else.
One name that has been thrown up, in relation to Southampton and Fulham, is Burnley striker Danny Ings. The 21-year-old has been making a name for himself at Burnley having scored 22 goals in his 72 appearances for the club since he joined in 2011.
That may not seem like a prolific strike rate but he is only 21 years of age. He’s also played twice for the England U21s scoring two goals in the process. While Fulham and Southampton fans may prefer to see a high-profile signing in January this guy wouldn’t cost a huge amount of money and may prove to be a top player. Worst case scenario he’ll pop up with a couple of goals and work his socks off, given his big chance in The Premier League.
SkyBet have Fulham as favourites to sign the player at odds of 9/2. Behind them come Southampton at odds of 7/1 . As for Bet Victor, they have it the other way around with Southampton at 2/1 and Fulham as 5/2 second favourites.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Fulham and Southampton fans – would you fancy taking this guy on or are household names required to consolidate your positions.
