Arsenal: Contact confirmed with absolute bargain

Absolute bargain for Arsenal

Arsenal could be about to do a super deal with this one. With Theo Walcott out for the rest of the season, and with Arsenal looking a little bit light in the attacking third, moves are being made to bolster during the January transfer window.

Big-money moves have been mooted but it is much more likely that Arsenal will try and snatch a bargain in January before making big signings again in the summer.

One player who we believe is really underrated is Juventus midfielder Sebastian Giovinco. We reported last week on how The Atomic Ant has been linked to Arsenal and his agent has now confirmed that there has been contact with The Gunners.

The Metro reports this morning:

And after reports emerged that Wenger is pushing hard to do business, the player’s agent has admitted that talks have been held with Arsenal.

‘We have had contact with Arsenal,’ said Claudio Pasqualin.

‘It was a request for information about his situation. There was nothing more [at the moment].’

Seriously, Arsenal fans, this would be an inspired signing for the club. Giovinco has the mobility of a player like Gervinho – but fear not – he has bags more purpose and end product. If he isn’t getting as much game time as he would like at Juventus right now it is it is down to a lack of quality – more to do with Giovinco not fitting into the current Juventus system.

At 26 he’s a fully formed footballer who has his best years ahead of him. We believe that if Arsenal do loan the player, they would be amply impressed to make the deal permanent in the summer.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action and, Arsenal fans, let us know what you think about this potential deal.

Much in the same way I wanted us to get Jesus Navas so badly last summer, I would love to have Giovinco. His versatlity makes him an Arsene type of player as he can play on the wing, behind the striker or as a true forward in a 4-4-2.

Speedy with excellent close control and a clinical shot, his only deficiency may be defensive duties.
