Tottenham remain favourites for goal machine despite Arsenal link

Chicharito: Perfect back up

This guy would improve most squads

Tim Sherwood has enjoyed an excellent start to his tenure as Tottenham manager, capped by a comfortable win against Manchester United in their own back yard, on New Year’s Day.

Whether this is just an example of fresh blood bringing a temporary lift, or that Sherwood is precisely what Tottenham need long-term, remains to be seen. But he certainly seems to have galvanised the club after the ultimately farcical regime of Andre Villas Boas. Anyone for a Powerpoint? No, I didn’t think so.

One of the main differences with the new Tottenham manager is that he’s playing two up front and he’s got Emmanuel Adebayor performing out of his skin once more. He’s always been a good player but perhaps needed a fresh approach to get him firing again.

But Tottenham still look a little light up front with Defoe in his 30s and Soldado yet to really come to the boil. A name that has been mentioned in relation to Tottenham and Arsenal is Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.

Arsenal have been linked again with the poacher over the last day or so as the window heats up by the hour.

Nevertheless SkyBet still have Tottenham as favourites for the signature of the player. At odds of 7/1 there is perhaps a feeling that Manchester United would want to hold on to the player, at least until the summer. With RvP struggling and Wayne Rooney playing through injury David Moyes may wish to hold onto his better squad members until a proper summer reshuffle.

But we think Chicharito would be a great addition to Tottenham or Arsenal. He’s got pace to burn, works tirelessly for the team and always seems to find dangerous positions in the box.

Let’s see him in action. Tottenham fans, do you think this one is a goer?
