Chelsea – prolific marksman to sign?

There is a sense that The Special One will invest again in January

We bang on about it pretty much every day over here at soccersweep.

Despite the wonderful depth and talent in the Chelsea squad, including some brilliant strikers, there is a sense that The Special One will invest again in January. If not in the winter, then surely we will see another high-profile striker arrive at the club in the summer.

With Chelsea’s midfield you would expect a top striker to be scoring 40+ goals a season.

That just ain’t happening currently and speculation is rife that Chelsea will sign another forward.

Today’s rumours suggest that a swap deal could be in the offing. Prolific Porto striker Jackson Martinez is seemingly unsettled in Portugal and wants out. The Guardian suggests that Chelsea may offer Demba Ba in exchange for the brilliant Colombian.

With Tottenham and Liverpool also reportedly interested, Chelsea would have to move swiftly, if they want to snare this guy. The Guardian says:

The 27-year-old Colombian striker wants to leave before his best years are past him. “The years are passing by,” Martínez sighed, flicking through his copy of The Stranger, “and one day I hope to make a good transfer.” Chelsea will offer Demba Ba to Porto in exchange for Martínez.

This guy looks like the mutt’s nuts. He’s been prolific wherever he has played with a goal scoring average of one every two games throughout his career.

Let’s have a look at him in action. Chelsea fans does this guy boil your potatoes or would you rather a world-renowned star came into the forward line?
